Greek Independence Day Parade
Bringing Hellenic Heritage right in our Backyard.
βIn 2021, the Bicentennial Anniversary of Greek Independence was celebrated as it marked a new milestone to remind the bravery of Greece declaring independence from the Ottoman Empire and re-establishing freedom and democracy in the country.
The DGIDC proudly continues hosting the annual Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade, which is one of the largest Greek parades in the U.S., drawing in thousands of Hellenes from the Metro-Detroit, Ohio, and Canadian communities to partake in the celebration. This family-friendly parade features traditional Greek Evzones, dancers and musicians, exciting floats by local schools and businesses, a variety of church and non-profit groups, collegiate groups, local Police Honor Guard, mascots and entertainment from the Detroit sports teams, and more.
