Odyssey 1

Opened in 1983, this Greektown destination has been a gathering place where generations have shared Greek food, family traditions, and warm hospitality. Founded by a Greek immigrant family, it reflects the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of those who helped shape Detroit’s Greek community. Its distinctive Pegasus logo is inspired by ancient Greek mythology, where Pegasus was the legendary winged horse associated with inspiration, heroism, and the imagination of poets and storytellers. The symbol represents the lasting connection between Greek heritage, creativity, and the community it continues to serve.

Odyssey 2

Dating back to the 1850s, this historic building once housed the D.M. Ferry & Company seed warehouse, a major agricultural business that helped shape Detroit’s commercial landscape. In the 1980s, the building was transformed into Trappers Alley, a lively marketplace featuring shops, restaurants, and entertainment that became a popular destination in Greektown. Today, the historic structure is part of Hollywood Casino at Greektown, reflecting the neighborhood’s ongoing transformation while preserving a connection to its rich past.

Odyssey 3

Established by the Teftis family in 1971, this beloved Greektown establishment has been serving generations with traditional Greek pastries, handcrafted desserts, and family recipes passed down through the years. Built on a foundation of hard work, quality, and hospitality, it has become a cherished part of Detroit’s Greek community. Its name is inspired by Astoria, the New York City neighborhood long known for its vibrant Greek American population, celebrating the shared heritage and traditions that unite Greek communities across the country.

Odyssey 4

For over 50 years, this Greektown landmark has represented the journey of the Dionisopoulos brothers, Greek immigrants who brought their traditions, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit to Detroit. It has remained a gathering place that reflects the strength and resilience of the community. Its iconic logo is inspired by the legendary fleece of ancient Greek mythology—the prized golden wool sought by Jason and the Argonauts in the epic quest, a symbol of adventure, honor, and achievement.

Odyssey 5

Founded by Greek immigrants seeking to preserve their culture, language, and traditions, this parish has been an important part of Detroit’s Greek community for generations. The original building was erected in 1910 at 660 Macomb Street in the heart of Greektown, before the present cathedral was completed at its current location in 1964. Dedicated to the Annunciation of the Theotokos, the cathedral remains a landmark of Greek heritage and a symbol of the community’s enduring presence in Detroit.

Odyssey 6

Located in the heart of Detroit’s Cultural Center, this vibrant institution opened in 2013 to celebrate Hellenic history, art, traditions, and the enduring contributions of Greek Americans. Through engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and community events, it serves as a place where culture, heritage, and stories are preserved and shared with future generations.
